The revitalizing of the old industrial bases in north-east China is beginning to step into the development strategies of the Chinese government: Tianjin and the three north-eastern provinces of Liaoning, Jilin and Heilongjiang are becoming the new hotspot regions for economic development. Malaysians have not been active in trade and investment in this region. This conference seeks to introduce Malaysians to this region.

To narrow the income gap between rich coastal cities and the rest of the country, billions of yuan have been spent on bridges, expressways, airports, power plants, and other infrastructure to boost the economies of inland China. Fast rising labour and land costs and a vast interior market have persuaded companies to move west. We should also examine the business possibilities that the west has to offer.
  (ii) Investment in Western China: "Small Incidents, Big Knowledge"
  (Speaker:  Mr. Low You Chai, President, Asia Pacific-China West Development Promotion Council)
Mr. Low has 16 years of practical experience in western China.   He will give a macro view of the different provinces and autonomous regions of this region, and an objective analysis of the challenges and matters to pay attention to.
